Versus You – This war is like a drug to you

Versus You is a four-piece punk band from Luxembourg. Since 2005 they’ve released some records, seen a few drummers come and go, played a hell of a lot of shows and toured Eastern Europe and Russia twice. Their song writing is highly inspired by West Coast and Chicago punk bands.

Versus You shared stages with bands like  NOFX, No Use For A Name, Alkaline Trio & quite a few more…

Now they released a brand new single called “This war is like a drug to you” hiting Top 10 positions on Eldoradio & RTL Charts.

Adam Ficek aka Roses Kings Castles @ d:qliq – June 2nd

Adam Ficek is most commonly known to the general public for his day-job as drummer in notorious British rock act Babyshambles. As a member of the band fronted by Pete Doherty, the most talked- and written-about rock star of our time, Adam has seen the best and worst of life at the casualty-laden core of the music industry, but what many people don’t know is he is also a talented multi-instrumentalist who writes and performs beautifully crafted songs under the nom-de-plume of Roses Kings Castles.

Originally conceived as a creative outlet whilst Babyshambles were on holiday, Roses Kings Castles became something more than a means of occupying himself during down time. “I continually write, whether it’s big band arrangements, electro riffs or folk-pop songs. I just needed an avenue to walk down.”

The Roses Kings Castles sound is lost somewhere between Belle & Sebastian’s pastoral warmth and the hallucinatory six-string invocations of Syd Barrett, and manages to blissfully combine astute acoustic pop melodies with the finest elements of classic British songwriting.

Adam’s eponymus debut album has sold more than 3,000 copies since its release in September 2008 and a number of dates around Europe and America has seen him picking up many new fans across the globe. A string of low-key UK and Scandinavian shows in Spring 2009 saw Adam previewing new material, and working with a band.

Following the release of a 6 track limited edition cassette only release (!) in May 2009, Adam re-entered the studio and cut a number of tracks. The first fruits of his labour were released as the ‘Apples & Engines‘ EP, and a new album, Suburban Time Bombs was recorded in the months that followed.

The first single from the album, ‘One Born Every Minute’ was issued on 3rd May, followed by a summer release for the album.

Ou est le Swimming Pool? – January 14th @ Den Atelier

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool are a shiny new electro- pop outfit hailing from North London. Their superb debut ‘Dance The Way I Feel’ is an infectious slice of electro-pop with Pet Shop Boys influenced vocals and a catchy as hell baseline that will quite literally drag you onto the dance floor- the perfect post summer slam.

What a year it’s been for the three piece. They’ve shared stages with the likes of Sam Sparro, Mr. Hudson, Cypress Hill and Reverend And The Makers as well as packing out their own gigs with their own brand of infectious pop. They’ve gained support from most at Radio 1. They -were invited to play no less than 3 stages at Glasto, no mean feat when this time last year the band weren’t even in existence…

Ou Est started life as a 3 piece when founding member Charles Haddon moved to Camden in 2008 where he met locals Joe Hutchinson and Caan Capan. Within a month of the trio’s paths first crossing, ‘Ou Est Le Swimming Pool’ was born. The band had just started to make music together when they met production wizard Anders Kallmark who was instantly spellbound and asked if he could come aboard. They have built up a reputation for being one of the most exciting live bands of the moment; their passionate live shows bursting with energy and chemistry as they jump about the stage.

See what all the fuss is about…
